Albert Reinholdt Østergaard is an award-winning Danish musician whose work moves fluidly between Nordic lyricism, jazz traditions, and the rhythmic richness of Latin America - particularly Cuba and Brazil. With a deeply personal and expressive approach, his music transcends genre, focusing instead on storytelling, atmosphere, and human connection.
Over the years, Albert has collaborated and shared musical spaces with internationally renowned artists such as Ed Thigpen, Bob Mintzer, Kamasi Washington, and Pee Wee Ellis. These encounters have helped shape a musical voice that is both rooted in tradition and constantly evolving.
As a composer and bandleader, Albert brings audiences into a warm, immersive sound world—sometimes energetic and rhythmically vibrant, other times intimate and reflective. His projects, including his work with various ensembles on the Danish and international scene, highlight a strong sense of interplay, spontaneity, and emotional depth.
While also active as a knitting designer exploring improvisation and creative freedom in a different medium, Albert’s musical work remains at the core of his artistic identity - an ongoing exploration of imperfection, expression, and connection through sound.
Join Albert Reinholdt Østergaard for a concert experience where boundaries dissolve, and music speaks directly to the senses.
